WEBSITE PRICES, EXETER & SOMERSET

WHAT MOVES THE PRICE
Why “from”, and what changes the figure
The starting price covers the site most businesses of that kind need. The figure moves for five reasons, listed here, and for nothing else. You get the exact number in writing after one call, and it does not change unless you ask for more.
I have been on the other side of this, as a heating engineer buying a website for my own firm in 2009. Nobody would tell me a price until they had sat in my kitchen for an hour. This page is the one I wanted then.
Number of pages
Six pages and sixteen pages are not the same job. Each page is written, laid out and checked on a phone. Service pages pay for themselves because each one can rank on its own.
Who writes the words
Included. We interview you, write the copy, and you approve it. If you already have good copy, the price does not go up, but it rarely goes down either, because it still has to be fitted and checked.
Photos
Your own job photos beat stock every time. We size and compress them for you. If you have none, we can arrange a half day with a photographer, quoted separately.
Forms and bookings
A quote form is included. A booking calendar, a customer login or a payment step moves the job into the software price.
An existing site
A redesign is cheaper than a new site because the content, domain and Google history already exist. The work is in the rebuild and the redirects.

QUESTIONS
What people ask about the cost
Why do most agencies hide their prices?+
Because they quote each job against what they think the customer can pay. We would rather you know the figure before you ring, the same way you give your own customers a price. The 'from' price is the real starting point for that type of site, and the fixed price you get in writing is usually within a few hundred pounds of it.
Is £1,195 expensive for a small business website?+
A template site on Wix or Squarespace costs £15 to £40 a month forever, you build it yourself, and it does what the template allows. A typical agency site in Devon is £2,500 to £6,000. Ours sits between, because one person designs, writes, builds and hosts it, there is no project manager, and the same tools are used on every site.
What does the £39 a month cover?+
Hosting on fast servers, daily backups, security and software updates, the spam guard, an SSL certificate, and small changes such as a new price or a new photo. Cancel any time and take the site with you. Nothing is held hostage.
Can I pay monthly instead?+
Yes. The trades website is £79 a month for two years with nothing up front, then £39 a month for hosting and care. You own the site at the end of the two years, the same as paying up front.
What happens if I want changes after it goes live?+
Small changes are part of hosting and care. New pages or new features are quoted before we start, in writing, like everything else.
